Tera Guest at the 2024 Summit for Territories: Digitalization and EU2050 Objectives

On September 11, 2024, the third "Summit for Territories" organized by Smart Building Alliance (SBA) Italy, will take place at the "Camera dei deputati". This annual event, aimed at assessing the state of digitalization and modernization of Italy's real estate assets, will be an opportunity to deepen crucial topics related to smart buildings and their role in the context of energy transition and environmental sustainability.
The summit, which will feature numerous industry experts, will focus on the profound transformation underway in the construction sector, a change that not everyone is fully aware of. Beyond its primary function as "shelter," the building is becoming the physical terminal for an expanding range of innovative services made possible by digitalization. In this way, the building becomes a meeting point between human physicality and connection to an increasingly virtual world. This connection can improve quality of life, especially when accompanied by ease of use, which is often lacking in the technologies applied to buildings.
This year's event, titled "Smart buildings: convergence of PNRR, digitalization, and EU2050 objectives" , will be divided into two sessions. The morning session, held at the "Carte Geografiche" Conference Center in Rome, will introduce the work with a focus on the convergence of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), digitalization, and the European Union's 2050 climate objectives. Topics will include the digitalization of buildings for social and economic development, enabling technologies for the evolution of energy services, the role of transport in decarbonization, and the management of digital risk and privacy.
In the afternoon, the proceedings will move to the Camera dei Deputati, where three programmatic documents, developed by industry experts, business managers, and representatives of professional associations, will be presented to parliamentarians and political leaders.
Antonio Sacchetti, CEO and chairman of Tera and an expert on digital energy (smart metering chain2, Renewable Energies Communities, Virtual Power Plant/local flexibility services), and the integration of technologies like edge computers in smart buildings, will speak at both sessions. The full program of the event is provided here.
The goal of the Summit is to raise awareness among a broad audience and key stakeholders about emerging issues related to smart buildings, while also promoting the protocol for equipping buildings with the digital infrastructure necessary to manage the new functions they are being called upon to fulfill. With the involvement of experts and parliamentarians, the event represents an important opportunity for discussion and reflection on key issues for the future of the construction sector and the sustainability of our planet.

From Digital Energy to Edge Computing: the intelligent evolution of the energy grid
In the landscape of connected and decentralized energy, even the most traditional tools are undergoing transformation. Today, fiscal energy meters are no longer just measuring instruments, but intelligent nodes within an ever-evolving energy ecosystem. Thanks to integration with edge devices, such as our Beeta Readers, it is possible to collect, process, and enhance energy data directly at the point where it is generated, ensuring faster response times, autonomous management, and greater local control of resources. This approach enables users—whether individuals, businesses, or communities—to make more informed decisions and proactively optimize their energy consumption and production. This evolution opens up new scenarios for the dynamic management of energy flows, where data becomes not only a monitoring tool, but an enabler for real-time, localized optimization of consumption and production. 📡 In this context, Renewable Energy Communities (CERs) and Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) find their technological foundation. The ability to accurately monitor energy withdrawals and injections, flexibly aggregate distributed resources, and respond quickly to grid conditions represents a new frontier for efficiency, sustainability, and energy autonomy. What seemed futuristic only a few years ago is now becoming reality, thanks to the convergence of digital energy, edge computing, and artificial intelligence. Tera continues to invest in the research and development of edge-cloud platforms capable of interfacing with existing meters, processing data locally, and contributing to the creation of an increasingly resilient, transparent, and participatory energy network. 🔍 Our CEO, Antonio Sacchetti, discusses this in greater depth in an article featured on pages 36–37 of the digital magazine Smart Building Italia, available at the following link: 👉
New European Directives for Building Technologies: Constraints and Opportunities
New European policies are redefining the future of the smart building sector, posing new challenges while also opening up opportunities for innovation and growth. In his recent article published on Smart Building Italia, our CEO Antonio Sacchetti analyzed two key directives that will have a direct impact on building technologies: the Cyber Resiliency Act (CRA) and the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD). The CRA is a European regulation that introduces strict cybersecurity requirements for all products with digital elements, particularly those connected to the network. Key aspects include: The goal is to ensure stronger protection against vulnerabilities and cyberattacks, but companies will need to face additional investments and complexities to comply. The EPBD aims at decarbonizing the European building stock, setting increasingly strict sustainability standards. The most relevant aspects include: 👉 Want to read the full article?
